math tasks

Grade 7
We have been using proportions, proportional graphs, proportional tables, and the resulting equations.  Today we worked Lesson 8 and compared wages of Amber and John expressed in different types of representations. We have practiced stating the characteristics of each and using those to analyze stories/context. Tomorrow we will continue these types of activities which review the concepts on the assessment we will be having Monday. Stories and their context bring meaning to the math patterns.

Grade 8
Linear equations writing and solving them are the focus.  Today we discussed Lesson 7 "Types of Solutions" and found there were three: one solution, no solution, and infinitely many solutions.  We will be looking at Lesson 8 Linear Equations in Disquise where we will use the cross-product for proportions and then solve the resulting equations.
