Language Arts Homework 10/30

Students must finish their book test (Crossing the Wire, Day of the Pelican, A Long Way Gone). Questions should be completed on lined paper, and a plot diagram needs to be filled out.  These will be collected at the start of Friday's class.

Students should complete a vocabulary review sheet (Vocabulary Lesson 3) started in class. This lesson reviews previous vocabulary words, sentence structure and Spanish words in the English language.

Language Arts Homework 10/20

Many students have not completed the writing of their coyote paragraphs that were assigned on 10/13 and 10/14.  Directions for the paragraph format are in a plastic sleeve in student binders. (or in the Humanities folder on this site.) An Upfront and Junior Scholastic article are needed for evidence to complete the task.  This is a major grade and will need to be finished after school this week if not completed tonight.

All students reading Crossing The Wire need to read to page 109 and annotated for rising action from 102-109.

Language Arts Homework, October 13 & 14

Students have been asked to finish writing an informational paragraph on Coyotes.  This paragraph was started in class and evidence for the paragraph was located together.  Students have a writing format to follow located in thier binders as well as in the Humanities folder on this site.
Over the weekend, Students will need to finish reading page 73-92 in Crossing the Wire.

Student cohorts changing

Dear Parents,

Beginning on Monday, we will be switching up classes. Their math class will stay the same, but the rest of the classes will become multi-aged. We find that the students will benefit from working with different students throughout the day.

Language Arts Homework, Friday, October 10

All grade 6 & 7 students should read through page 48 in Crossing the Wire.  Students should be prepared to discuss the rising action/ problems in this section.

Grade 8 students should read through page 58 in Crossing the Wire. In sections 31-48 they should be annotating for rising action/ problems and in 49-58, identifying similes, and marking them AC for author's craft.

Students are to do factor trees for the two numbers in each row then use the prime factorizations to build the LCM  ( They can check and see if they are correct by checking their original sheet.

Language Arts Homework 10/9

Grade 6 should read chapter 4 in Crossing the Wire -The Bells of Los Arboles, and be prepared for a quiz.
Grades 7 & 8 need to complete an informational paragraph about food carving using the writing format provided and entered into to the plastic sleeves of their binders.
