Grade 7
Corrections for the EOM Ratios and Proportional Relationships are underway. We will be working on them a little each day this week. Corrections allow for student to raise their score to working.
Rational numbers are the focus of our upcoming module. We started prior to break using number lines, spinners to designate where we start, how we face, and then how we move on the number line. Students have a handout of 8 sets of actions for each they need: number line with start point labeled, arrow showing the move that is happening, and an endpoint, they also need to write an equation showing the direction of the move. These 8 number lines are due tomorrow
Grade 8
We have been working with points, graphs, equations, and tables. We started a quiz prior to break but struggled so we will be working with graphic organizers, naming points, finding slope in various ways, graphs of lines and writing equations for the rest of this week. We will be finishing up this quiz in class. The two graphic organizers of point (2, 8) and ( -4, -4) and one for (-2,7) and (2,1) are due tomorrow.

math tasks
Grade 7
The End-of-Module assessment is happening the students did a nice job with the review packet and making display posters. We are starting Unit 2 Rational Numbers, the students will be walking on the number-line as we explore the integer operations.
The standard for the rational numbers unit is 7.NS.A.1
Grade 8
As we continue our Linear Equations unit students are working with slope, the slope-intercept form, and standard form of linear equations. They are also learning to change these formats by using the property of equality.
The standards are 8.EE.B.5, 8.EE.B.6.

Team Breakfast 12/22 & Sign Up Form
Twice each year, we open up our classrooms and invite students and their families in for a potluck style breakfast. We are excited to announce that this year’s Team Breakfast will occur on Friday December 22nd from 7:30am-8:45am. As a way of facilitating the breakfast, we have created a form with a list of suggested items to bring in. To sign up online follow this link: Team Breakfast Sign Up. Please mark your calendars as we hope to see as many families as possible for this joyous gathering!

math tasks
Grade 7
We have been working with scale factor as it applies to lengths and area in Lessons 17 & 19. There is also review packet to help us prepare for the mid-module.
Grade 8
We are finding connections between the standard form and y-intercept forms as we make graphs, examine the equations particularly the x and y intercepts, and slopes. Lessons 18 & 19 along with videos and power points have been our vehicles.

math tasks
Grade 7
We have been working with scale factors, equations for proportional relationships, computing scale factor and determining the lengths for scale drawings. Lessons 16 & 17 along with a handout about a garden behind the farmhouse have been used for practice.
We have been working with slope calculating using counts of the rise and run when given the graph and computing it from two points. We have been using the property of equality as transform the standard form of the linear equation to the slope intercept form. We have used Lessons 16 & 17 from our packets along with online resources.

math tasks
Grade 7
Scale drawings and similarity are the focus for the last few lessons prior to the End-of-Module assessment. Similar figures has the same shape, not necessarily the same size, and are proportional.
Eureka Lessons 15-17 are the focus.
The standards for this last section are: 7.RP.A.2b and 7.G.A.1 if you google Khan Academy and the standard you can find more practice.
Grade 8
Slope , the standard form, and the slope intercept form are the focus of the current section. We will find slope using the co-ordinate plane and moving from one point to another then counting and using two points and computing the value. Transforming the standard form into the slope intercept form using the property of equality and using both forms to determine slope is the focus.
The standards are: 8.EE.B.5 and 8.EE.B.6 if you google Khan Academy and the standard you can find more practice.
