weekly Science update

In Science, students identified the chain of cause and effect events that lead to fish kills.  We learned some strategies for working together in groups (such as asking everyone in the group for their thoughts before moving on & supporting each other even if we disagree with an idea) and will use these strategies this week when work on our Public Service Announcements.  The PSA’s will serve as an assessment of student learning up until this point.  Please click the link above to find out more details about this task.  Students have access to this document in their google classrooms and will receive a hardcopy in class.

This week in Science

In Science, students made their final observation on algae growth this week and will graph out their results next week.  We introduced the idea of limiting factors and carrying capacity and how the impact exponential population growth.  Next week, we will use a computer simulation to discuss how certain variables can impact ecosystems and students will begin a public service announcement that will be an assessment of their learning up until this point.
